Common questions

Frequently asked

Is VideoSaver really free? +

Yes. The desktop app is free for personal use. There are no signups, subscriptions, ads or watermarks on the files you save.

Which sites are supported? +

Instagram, YouTube, TikTok and Facebook are first-class, plus more than a thousand other video sites including X (Twitter), Reddit, Vimeo, Twitch, Bilibili, Weibo, Dailymotion, LinkedIn and more.

Where do my downloads go? +

Wherever you tell it to. By default the app saves to your “Downloads/VideoSaver” folder, with a subfolder per site so things stay tidy.

Does the app upload my links or files anywhere? +

No. All parsing and saving happens entirely on your computer. We never see the links you paste, the files you download, or anything else you do in the app.

Is it legal to download videos with this app? +

The app is a general-purpose tool, like a web browser. Whether a specific download is allowed depends on the source site’s terms, the copyright of the content and your local laws. Please only save material you have the right to save — see our disclaimer below.

Can I download private posts or stories? +

Only content you already have legitimate access to. If a post belongs to someone else, you should obtain the owner’s permission before saving and never republish or share it without their consent.

Stop fighting downloaders.
